The Flear estate nestles amidst the rolling hills of the South Hams, in South Devon. It is made up of a nest of luxurious period cottages and a principle house, embraced by 27 acres of beautiful sprawling countryside, including Flear Wood. Flear’s small river flows towards the Kingsbridge estuary and the sea beyond.
Our facilities are exceptional here at Flear and offer a huge amount to our visiting families all seasons, all weathers! Our magnificent indoor pool complex and giant indoor Playbarn are perfect for rainy days, or dropping-in for some family leisure time without the need for an agenda. The outdoor playground and paddocks are relaxing, and for those who have more energy, why not take a turn on the Pitch & Putt course or stroll to our court for a game or two of tennis. Our ponies Abby and Gemma are always around and there are beautiful walks around the valley and through Flear Wood.
The nearby stunning beaches and coastline almost surround us here, to the South, East and West. The Island climate of the South Hams connects to the rest of Devon via Dartmoor National Park to the North. The pretty town of Kingsbridge, with its cafés, restaurants and quirky shops is only a 10-minute drive, and the nearest village boasts an excellent family-friendly gastro pub, within a pleasant mile or so’s walk.
It is an ideal holiday location if you want to leave behind the strains of city living and relax in a peaceful rural setting. You can wander along pretty streams, explore our rambling woods and trek over undulating hills or find a different sandy beach each day. In spring, a sea of bluebells carpets the woodland floor and buttercups fill our meadows, in summer a range of blooming flowers decorate the gardens of Flear and in autumn the apple orchard is laden with fruit, while wild garlic and horse chestnuts, sloes and blackberries abound.
